Role: Retail Associate

We are looking for a fun, creative, nature lovin' individual to join our team! Our goal is to offer Tulsa the opportunity to observe, buy, and collect all kinds of natural specimens and we are so excited to welcome someone who shares this mindset.

Pay:

Starting Pay is $14/hour

Schedule:

Part-time position, 20-30 hours per week

Required Availability:

  • Tuesdays: 10:00am-6:30pm
  • Rotating Sunday shifts: 10:30am-4:30pm
  • Wednesday-Saturday: to be determined

Responsibilities

  • Excellent Customer Service
    • Educating customers in all disciplines we carry: Insects, skulls, rocks and minerals, taxidermy, mummification, articulations, and sea life
    • Going above and beyond for each customer
    • Checking customers out at the retail counter
    • Replying to customer reviews and emails
  • Inventory Management
    • Entering product into our POS system
    • Research and analyze current market value for products
    • Keep an eye on low-stock categories
    • Maintain, organize, and keep knowledge of what is in backstock
  • Store Floor Maintenance
    • Straighten up display and product, restocking as needed
    • Cleaning display cabinets and tables, as well as sweeping and mopping the floor
    • Maintain a clean check out area
  • Visual Merchandising
    • Assist in the creation and development of product layouts and displays
    • Create effective store signage
    • Decide on the most effective and least distracting ways to tag products
  • Events
    • Having the flexibility to work local events we vent at such as the Oddities and Curiosities Expo, State Fair, Pride, etc.
    • All employees are required to work any event held at the store
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

skills & experience

  • A quick learner, self-starter, able to work independently, and willing (and able to handle an increasing level of responsibility
  • Having flexibility and a good attitude is crucial due to the store's needs consistently changing
  • The ability to take initiative and perform tasks in a self-sufficient manner with minimal oversight, consistently meeting set goals and deadlines
  • Experience in a nature field is not required but a strong interest in learning about nature identification and how we make our product is vital
  • Attention to detail is paramount in this position. Our store is built on handmade details and a creative touch
  • Ability to execute creative visual merchandising with a variety of products
  • Solid organizational skills and a strong ability to prioritize a multitude of responsibilities
  • Ability to move and lift up to 65 pounds: heavier with team assistance
  • Basic knowledge of how to use a drill and the ability to climb tall ladders
